The Office of Alumni Services and Giving Welcomes Two New Staff Members

We at the Texas A&M University-Kingsville Office of Alumni Services and Giving have experienced several exciting changes with the start of 2019. We invite our alumni and friends of the university to make a trip to campus and a quick stop by the office to meet the two newest additions to our staff: Gloria Buff ’89 and Elaine Barnes.

You may already know and recognize Gloria Buff, as she returns to us after having previously served as a Javelina Alumni Association Board Member from 2002-2003 as well as Director of Alumni Affairs from 2003-2007. She was also a Foundation Board Trustee from 2017-2018. Gloria arrived back to Kingsville alongside her husband, Haskel Buff, who is also a recognizable face on campus, serving as the Defensive Coordinator for the Texas A&M University-Kingsville Football team.

In her position as Executive Assistant, Gloria will offer a host of significant responsibilities focused on administrative support to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement/Foundation CEO, Brad Walker. She will also act as office liaison to the Javelina Alumni Association Board of Directors.

Gloria is a fellow Javelina who proudly bleeds blue and gold, having earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&I University in 1989.

Our second addition to the staff is Elaine Barnes, who comes to A&M-Kingsville all the way from Virginia, where she solidified her experience in alumni relations, having served as the Assistant Editor of the alumni magazine for the Virginia Military Institute Alumni Agencies from 2014-2018. She arrives to Kingsville alongside her husband, Jason Barnes, who is serving the U.S. Navy as an instructor pilot at NAS Kingsville.

In her position as Coordinator of Alumni and Donor Communications, Elaine’s job responsibilities will include uncovering and sharing the stories of our alumni and donors, writing alumni spotlights and feature articles, managing our social media accounts, and assisting with event marketing. She will also collaborate and work with A&M-Kingsville’s established team of marketing and communications to help support the mission of the university.

Elaine graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 2014.
