With the beginning of the New Year, Texas A&M University-Kingsville welcomed our 20th President Mark Hussey. President Hussey assumed his role on Jan. 2, 2019, and eagerly began his dedicated service to the development of the university, following longtime university president Dr. Steven Tallant. As part of his initiative to prioritize partnership with the Texas A&M University-Kingsville Foundation, Inc., President Hussey is pleased to announce that President Emeritus Tallant will serve in a consultant role alongside the Foundation, contributing to the university’s continued advancement.

“I am thrilled Dr. Tallant will continue to be a visible member of the Javelina Family. His service in this new role is a testament of his love for this university,” exclaimed President Hussey. “As the second-longest serving president of Texas A&M University-Kingsville, Dr. Tallant reflects the values of service, excellence, discovery and opportunity. His work will continue to help secure a margin of programmatic excellence and provide opportunities for young men and women to attend college.”

Established in 1972, the Texas A&M University-Kingsville Foundation, Inc. exists to assist the university by building private support. By providing these necessary resources, the Foundation will contribute essential opportunities that ensure students receive a quality education while at A&M-Kingsville. The Foundation also acts as a vital partner in developing donor relationships and linking resources in pursuit of the university’s goals of advancement.

“I am very excited to continue representing the university in this role with the Texas A&M-Kingsville Foundation. During the last few years, our Foundation really got in alignment with the direction of the university, and we launched the With You. Without Limits. Campaign. I’m grateful to the Foundation Board for giving me the opportunity to continue increasing support for our programs, and I really appreciate being able to assist President Hussey in this way,” expressed President Emeritus Tallant.

Texas A&M University-Kingsville is in the midst of a comprehensive campaign, With You. Without Limits., which set a goal of raising $100 million in private support. As of Dec. 31, 2018, the campaign has reached $70 million. Funds raised will be utilized effectively by enhancing and furthering student support, research and programming, facilities and equipment, and more for the university. Vice President of Institutional Advancement & External Relations/CEO of Texas A&M-Kingsville Foundation, Brad Walker, added, “Dr. Tallant has great love and enthusiasm for A&M-Kingsville, and it speaks well for both he and President Hussey to continue his involvement in the With You. Without Limits. Campaign.

President Emeritus Tallant will assist in the achievement of the campaign through his consulting role, working collaboratively with the Foundation and the university, understanding that the campaign’s success will ensure a promising future for A&M-Kingsville and its students and solidify the university’s presence and significance in South Texas and beyond.
